Documentation

A reference for breeders using Herply — how the app works, what the genetics calculator does, and what's in the catalog. If you're a buyer who scanned a QR code, you'll find what each welfare flag means here.

What this app is

Herply is a multi-tenant collection manager for reptile breeders. You log animals, housing, feedings, sheddings, weighings, medications, clutches, and sales. When you scan an animal's QR code or share its public profile link, prospective buyers see the morph, lineage, and any welfare flags that apply.

The differentiator is the genetics layer. The morph calculator handles codominant, recessive, dominant, and polygenic inheritance; sex-linked traits like Banana; lethal homozygotes (Spider, Champagne, Hidden Gene Woma, Enigma); allelic complexes like BluEL where multiple alleles live at one locus; and multi-locus visual compounds like Sunglow, Snow, RAPTOR, and Blizzard.

These docs explain the rules the app follows, not the schema. If you want the engineering view, the source code is its own documentation.
