Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using Herply (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. The service

Herply is a multi-tenant collection-management tool for reptile breeders. It lets you log animals, housing, breeding records, sales, and a buyer-facing public profile per animal. The Service is currently in open beta.

3. Your account

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you record.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • One account per person. Sharing credentials is not supported.
  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.

4. Your data

  • The animal records, photos, sales, and notes you record belong to you.
  • We host them on our infrastructure to provide the Service.
  • You can request a copy of your data at any time by emailing privacy@herply.app (self-service export is on the roadmap).
  • If you delete your account, your data is removed within 30 days.

5. Public profiles

Each animal has a public profile (/p/<your-space>/<animal-code>) that anyone with the URL can view without an account. You control whether to share that URL or print the QR code; we don't expose buyer information on the public profile.

6. Welfare disclosure

When you record traits flagged with a welfare concern (Spider, Hidden Gene Woma, Champagne, Enigma, Lemon Frost — see Welfare flags), the public profile shows a plain-English warning. This is intentional buyer disclosure; you can't disable it on a per-animal basis.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal activity, including the trade of regulated species in jurisdictions where it is prohibited.
  • Misrepresent welfare flags, lineage, or sales status on the public profile.
  • Attempt to compromise the Service, scrape it at a rate that affects other users, or impersonate another user.

8. Intellectual property

  • We own the Service, its code, and its catalog of species and traits.
  • You retain ownership of the records, photos, and notes you upload.
  • The catalog (species, traits, loci, welfare text) is curated by us; suggestions are welcome but the editorial decisions are ours.

9. Termination

We may suspend or close your account if you violate these Terms. You can close your account at any time from the account settings page.

10. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is." The genetics calculator, welfare flags, and trait predictions are based on the best available breeder consensus and published research, but breeding outcomes are inherently uncertain. We are not responsible for breeding decisions, sale outcomes, or animal welfare consequences from how you use the Service.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be flagged in-app with at least 14 days' notice. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance of the updated Terms.
